1. Introduction

This Fair Use Policy (“Policy”) sets forth the guidelines for appropriate and acceptable use of the Sharda Quiz mobile application (“App,” “Service”) provided by Rank Guard EdTech (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Policy is designed to ensure fair and equitable access to our services for all users while preventing abuse and maintaining the quality of the platform.

By using the App, you agree to comply with this Fair Use Policy in addition to our Terms and Conditions (available at https://shardaquiz.com/terms-and-conditions/) and Privacy Policy (available at https://shardaquiz.com/privacy-policy/).

2. Purpose and Scope

This Policy serves two primary purposes:

General Usage Guidelines: To establish reasonable usage parameters for App features and services to ensure equitable access and optimal performance for all users.
Copyright Fair Use Guidelines: To provide guidance on the appropriate use of copyrighted materials within the App for educational purposes, in accordance with applicable copyright laws.

This Policy applies to all users of the App, regardless of subscription status, account type, or geographic location.

3. General Usage Guidelines

3.1 Pay-Per-Use (Free Users)

Users who access the App on a pay-per-use basis, using Coins (virtual currency), are subject to the following guidelines:

No Daily Limits: There are no daily usage limits for Coin-based features. Users can generate quizzes, use AI assistance, and perform OCR operations as long as they have sufficient Coins balance.
Resource-Based Usage: Usage is limited only by your Coins balance. Each operation consumes Coins according to the feature used. Users are advised to check the latest Coin Pricing within the app.
Reasonable Usage: While there are no technical limits, we expect users to use the App reasonably and for legitimate educational purposes.

3.2 Premium Subscription Limits

Premium subscribers enjoy enhanced access with the following daily limits that reset at midnight (based on your local timezone):

Daily Limits for Premium Users:

Quiz Generation: Up to 30 quizzes per day
- Includes quizzes generated from text, images, documents, and YouTube videos
- Each quiz generation counts toward the daily limit
OCR Operations: Up to 100 OCR (Optical Character Recognition) operations per day
- Includes image scanning, document processing, and text extraction
- Each OCR operation counts toward the daily limit
Web Searches: Up to 10 web searches per day
- Applies to AI assistant queries that include web search functionality
- Each web search request counts toward the daily limit
Other Features: Features not specifically listed above are not subject to daily limits for premium users

Limit Reset:

All daily limits reset automatically at midnight based on your device’s local timezone
Unused quota from one day does not carry over to the next day
You can check your remaining quota through the App’s interface

3.3 File Size Restrictions

To ensure optimal performance and service availability, the following file size limits apply to all users:

Image Files: Maximum 5MB per image
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, and other standard image formats
Document Files: Maximum 50MB per document
- Supported formats: PDF, DOCX, TXT, RTF, and other standard document formats

Files exceeding these limits will be rejected, and you will be prompted to compress or optimize your files before uploading.

No Limits: There are no restrictions on the number of quizzes you can share on the platform
Public Availability: Shared quizzes become publicly available to all registered users
Irreversible Action: Once a quiz is shared, the sharing action cannot be revoked (as specified in our Terms and Conditions)

4. Rate Limiting and Concurrent Operations

4.1 General Rate Limiting

No Per-Minute or Per-Hour Limits: We do not impose per-minute or per-hour rate limits on App usage
Daily Limits Only: For premium users, only daily limits apply as specified in Section 3.2
Service Availability: We reserve the right to implement temporary rate limiting if necessary to maintain service quality for all users

4.2 Bulk Operations

No Restrictions: There are no restrictions on performing multiple operations in sequence
Server Capacity: Operations are subject to server capacity and availability
Reasonable Usage: Users are expected to use the App in a manner that does not degrade service quality for others

5. AI Assistant Usage Guidelines

5.1 Query Guidelines

No Query Limits: There are no specific limits on the number of AI assistant queries you can make
No Length Restrictions: There are no restrictions on query length or complexity for users with sufficient Coins
Premium Web Searches: Premium users are limited to 10 web searches per day (as specified in Section 3.2)

5.2 Appropriate Usage

The AI assistant is designed for educational purposes. Appropriate uses include:

Asking questions related to exam preparation and study materials
Requesting explanations of concepts, formulas, and problem-solving approaches
Getting guidance on specific subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc.)
Seeking help with quiz-related questions and content
Requesting step-by-step solutions and explanations

5.3 Restrictions

Certain restrictions are built into the App itself to ensure appropriate usage. Users are expected to comply with all in-app restrictions and guidelines.

6. Copyright Fair Use Guidelines

6.1 Educational Purpose

The App is designed for educational purposes, and users may incorporate copyrighted materials into quizzes and educational content in accordance with fair use principles. Fair use allows limited use of copyrighted material without permission for purposes such as:

Teaching and learning
Scholarship and research
Educational commentary and criticism
Transformative use that adds value through analysis or explanation

6.2 User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for ensuring copyright compliance when uploading or using copyrighted materials in the App. This includes:

Authorization: Ensuring you have the right or authorization to use any copyrighted content you upload
Fair Use Assessment: Determining whether your use of copyrighted material qualifies as fair use under applicable laws
Compliance: Complying with all applicable copyright laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
Conscious Use: Using copyrighted materials responsibly and with awareness of copyright considerations

6.3 Guidelines for Fair Use

While we do not require formal citations, we encourage users to:

Use Only Necessary Amount: Use only the amount of copyrighted material necessary to achieve your educational objective
Transformative Use: Add value through commentary, criticism, analysis, or educational context
Attribution Awareness: Be conscious of the source and nature of copyrighted materials you use
Seek Permission: Obtain proper authorization when your use may exceed fair use provisions

6.4 Prohibited Copyright Practices

You must not:

Upload copyrighted material that you do not have the right to use
Use copyrighted content for commercial purposes without proper authorization
Distribute copyrighted materials in violation of the owner’s rights
Misrepresent or claim ownership of copyrighted materials

6.5 Copyright Violations

User Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for any copyright violations
No Company Liability: We are not responsible for copyright violations by users
Content Removal: We reserve the right to remove content that violates copyright laws upon receiving valid takedown notices
Account Consequences: Copyright violations may result in account suspension or termination as specified in Section 8

7. Abuse Detection and Prohibited Activities

7.1 Definition of Abuse

The following activities are considered abuse of the App and violate this Fair Use Policy:

Exceeding Permitted Limits: Attempting to use features beyond the daily limits applicable to your account type
Bypassing Limits: Using technical means, automated systems, bots, scripts, or any method to circumvent or bypass usage limits
Automated Usage: Using automated systems, bots, or scripts to access or use the App without our express written permission
Service Disruption: Any activity that could disrupt, degrade, or impair the App’s functionality or availability for other users
Fraudulent Activity: Creating multiple accounts to exploit bonuses, promotions, or system limitations

7.2 Monitoring

We actively monitor App usage patterns to detect and prevent abuse. This includes:

Tracking usage patterns and frequency
Monitoring for automated or bot-like behavior
Detecting attempts to bypass limits or restrictions
Analyzing resource consumption patterns

8. Consequences of Policy Violations

8.1 Escalation Process

Violations of this Fair Use Policy will be addressed through the following escalation process:

Step 1: Warning

First Violation: You will receive a warning notification explaining the violation
Educational: The warning will include information about appropriate usage
Remediation: You may be asked to adjust your usage patterns

Step 2: Temporary Restriction

Repeated Violations: If violations continue after a warning, your account may be temporarily restricted
Restricted Features: Access to specific features may be limited or suspended temporarily
Duration: Restrictions are typically temporary and may last for a specified period

Step 3: Account Suspension

Severe or Persistent Violations: Your account may be suspended for a period of 7 days
Notification: You will receive a warning notification after suspension begins (as specified in our Terms and Conditions)
Reactivation: You can reactivate your account by logging in after the suspension period

Step 4: Account Termination

Egregious Violations: Severe or repeated violations may result in permanent account termination
No Warning: Account termination may occur without prior warning for severe violations
Irreversible: Termination is permanent and irreversible (as specified in our Terms and Conditions)

8.2 Reference to Terms and Conditions

All penalties, including account suspension and termination, are subject to the Terms and Conditions (available at https://shardaquiz.com/terms-and-conditions/). This Policy supplements but does not replace the Terms and Conditions.

9. Educational Institution Use

9.1 Same Policy Applies

Educational institutions, schools, teachers, and students are subject to the same Fair Use Policy as all other users. There are no special provisions or exemptions for educational institutions at this time.

10. Policy Updates and Changes

10.1 Right to Modify

We reserve the right to modify, update, or change this Fair Use Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated through:

In-app notifications for material changes (when applicable)

10.2 Notification Period

Material changes to this Policy will be communicated with at least 15 days advance notice, consistent with our Terms and Conditions update procedures.

10.3 Acceptance

Your continued use of the App after changes to this Policy constitutes acceptance of the modified Policy. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App.

In case of any conflict between this Policy and the Terms and Conditions, the Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

These Fair Use Policy guidelines are effective as of 1st December 2025 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in their provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on our website with appropriate advance notice.
